Walking from Barbara's office to mine early yesterday morning I was stopped by a traffic light at the corner of 6th Avenue and 42nd Street. I looked across to Bryant Park (fine now, but a 24-hour-a-day drug store in the 1980s) and saw the Empire State Building and the “castle in the sky” (my name for it in a post about two months ago). Plenty more NYC photos on the 9 pages (40 photos per page for the first 8, only 12 so far on the 9th) of New York photo galleries on our site.

Brent -

Thank you.

I was using the Panasonic equivalent to the C-Lux-2 (I always have that in my briefcase to, from and at work), at full tele zoom, which is the 35mm equivalent to about 100mm, or 2X normal.

The Empire State Building is eight blocks south (the north-south blocks are each about 1/20 of a mile) and one block west (the midtown east-west blocks are 3 to 4 times as long as the north-south blocks) of where I shot the photo. The castle in the sky is one block south and one half block east of where I was standing. The perspecitve and relative distances caused the impression of shrinkage.

Pete - In this dimension I'm not much over a meter tall, but in one of the parallel dimentions I'm able to stand on my toes and dust the antenna on the top of the Empire State Building.

Jeff - Thank you, and we do love this city.
