This is an amazing effect. Love him.

You need to know how to use a lens. Not every photographer can do this. The pattern depends on the focusing distance

The photo is trash... but anyway - the oof area in the center is more blurred than at the side of the frame. The plane of focus is U shaped.

same thing: the trees at the side of the frame are less unsharp than the trees in the middle of the frame. You have to double click the image. Yes, it is subtle in the second image, as the focus is not as close as in the first image. Steve Huff's pictures (as unstable this guy may be...) show the same effect.

The curvature of field is quite apparent in the MTF table… there shouldn’t be any surprise or dispute to it and its effect.

It’s more present at closer focus distance and/or wider aperture.
