For me its not sure if its possible to lock the exposure during composition .

Is it not possible by pressing the release button half way? After finding the good composition than move down the release button?

Yes, exposure lock works exactly as you described.

Pressing halfway you lock both AF and exposure

Unless you've set up your camera to do otherwise.

My Q is set up to use back-button to lock focus and a half press and hold to lock exposure.   That used to be my primary operating mode as it matched how my Canon DSLR was configured.   Since using mostly my Q (and M) I've switched to using manual focus.  I do still use the half press to lock exposure.  My Q exposure setting is set to center weighted to somewhat match how my M works.

You can configure the back button (initially set to work the Digital Zoom) to do AEL by a single press and use the shutter half press to focus. I have assigned the digital zoom to the Fn button in the back. That's what works for me anyway!

I’m using a Leica Q with the firmware 3.1 and my back button AEL just works If keep it pressed. Is it correct? Because I saw some Youtube videos of Q2 that backbutton AEL works pressing it just once and the camera release after you shoot the foto.
