Markkdolan Posted May 5, 2021 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greetings, If anyone comes across an original box for a Leica M10-P with the serial number 5505711 please let me know. I sent my new camera in for repairs and was told that the box I'd shipped it in would be the box out would be returned in, though that turned out to be not the case. I sent the camera in the box because it had a nice styrofoam form that provided additional support for the camera while in transit. I then put the original box in a coat of bubblewrap within a slightly larger box. It was well, well packed. At any rate, I am told by Leica repair crew that they are looking into the issue to see what can be done. Now, I realize this is just a box, but I am a teacher, worked long and hard to afford the camera, and asked prior to sending the camera in, about packing it in the original box. The boxes have numbers that match the cameras, as I understand it, but it could be that the box will surface somewhere. Thanks, Mark

I share your concern/anxiety just reading your comment. Hopefully the Leica team can find and return your box soon. If not maybe they have some way to help with matching the numbers on a new box? Wouldn't hurt to ask. FWIW when I send photographic gear in for repair or service with other manufacturers, I think they generally recommend not to ship with the original box. I don't send a lens with the separate lens hood either for fear of never seeing that again. I do hope there is a happy ending to this story for you. earleygallery Posted May 5, 2021 Share #3 Posted May 5, 2021 I would make a complaint, address it to Dr Kaufmann. If they have thrown your old box out they can surely just send you a new box? The serial numbers used to be written on, not sure if that's still the case?

Is it just the inner camera box you sent? Edited May 5, 2021 by pedaes
jaapv Posted May 5, 2021 Share #5 Posted May 5, 2021 They are very nice boxes. I rip out the foam and use them as storage box.
