Update to the topic. I was very kindly offered from a Leica shop (Berlin) an elmarit replacement (very good gesture and service from them that I much appreciate) and for the fist tests it seems to focus as the other lenses on both bodies.

So my initial argument that Leica care corrected the 28mm lens bad calibration by making totally off the m240 rangefinder adjustment seems true...

And my second argument that they adjusted the close focus rangefinder lever that changes its length (not the 2mm hex disc that contacts the lens), seems to be true.

Now I have 2 m240 bodies with different rangefinder adjustments...the one is correct and the "repaired" rangefinder patch never coincides at infinity, and if its made to coincide only by adjusting the 2mm hex disc, it will be off at the close distances.

So either I have to learn and fix the lever length or send the body back to Leica care.

Their initial proposal to send all my gear to them for adjustment still seems irrational for me to accept since it seems its possible that they could not do it correctly, as it also is the case for the first "repair"

For the sceptical people here: with old elmarit and 35 summarit, with correct focus in the viewfinder, elmarit was 10 cm off the target for a distance of about 1-1,2 m and with the new elmarit both lenses focus at the same point when you have correct focus at the viewfinder. Tomorrow I will check the infinity and medium distances but I know form now that they will be 99 % side by side for the 3 lenses I have.

So the final point is that it seems that Leica care stressed me, made me lose time, made me use another camera, no matter how much I used arguments before and after the  "repair", for NO reason. At least I learned some things about the rangefinder and may be able to make some adjustments myself, thats the positive side.

I could also trust a repair shop elsewhere in Europe but I do not know any.

Sounds a bit paranoid with respect. Leica is Leica. I would follow their advice if i were in your shoes. In no way Leica will refund you for repairs carried out elsewhere and that could void your warranty if any.

Dear lct. I care more about high probability for correct adjustments that voiding any warranty.

The story sounds paranoid. That’s why I searched for criticism/talks in here. But I am surprised that the paranoid facts that I have unfolded do not create any doubt about the Leica care handling my case. It is as if I have not posted a word about their repair or as if the facts I unfold say nothing to you.

Leica is Leica but still it’s run by people. And because my job is to run a company, I know first hand that no matter how big or well organized a company may be, it operated in a fluid environment and there are cases that it can act in way that appear or can be “paranoid” (otherwise it would not improve itself). And I am ok with that as long as there is a way “shake hands” with clarifying the case.
