Sometimes, some questions lead to

M(typ 246) !

nice find, I'm so happy with mine even I planned to buy M10 Monochrom,

I'm so happy that I can keep the two first Monochroms which complete each other very well.

have a nice read, here...

That’s very interesting experience with the two MM’s. Subtle yet ‘huge’ difference.

PS. What’s your experience with 5.6/28? I guess it’s a very versatile lens when you don’t need shallow DOF - landscape, architecture and street. Especially street, the distance mark are spaced for convenient  blinding shot. Is that correct?

Summaron-M 5.6/28mm is l o v e l y lens,

with Monochrom M246, the combo can be used everywhere, even inside dim church ...

so tiny but a bit on the heavy side for it's size.

Just took a snap for sizes comparision with my other 28mm Leica, sorry I forgot to put in the team the PC Super-Angulon-R 28 🙃

My dealer warned me that the lens is "soft", according to many. As the formula is the same to the original one, I don't anticipate a "modern" look. But is it sharp enough for architectural, an very important part of my work?

PS. Should we move to somewhere else to discuss, as now the discussion is several miles away from the title...

Your dealer and you need to understand this lens. It is not 'soft', but has a heavy vignette which is a key feature of its character. Love the lens but not sure it would be a first choice for architecture.

I think that this particular lens re-edition Summaron 28mm is ONLY for people (like me ) who wanted the LTM version in modern technology.

Not for every user, but only old-timer-nostalgics-who-use other boringly good 28mm for other purposes.

It would be an error if it's the ONLY 28mm 😉.

In that case it might fit some type of the architectural. Some other type might prefer zero vignette.

I wonder if Lightroom has its data to correct it.

Really keen to see some more sample photos of it.

As we see in the example pictures (other thread) I think that Lightroom corrects the vignetting automatically. Note that I do NOT know that. I rather re-ask your question that was not answered here yet.

Not sure it does, or if it does thankfully not by very much, as I have some heavy vignettes on some of my images processed in Lrc..

What is the point of buying this lens only to have its character removed electronically?

Already read the 85 pages ?

Wonderful 🥰,

you may be hooked then.

Just covered 12/85. Need a few more days to read all.
Already got hooded before I knew it, when I saw it in dealer’s display, and the size is second to none when you want the M to become a pocket camera.

SOMETIMES I need the lens to do something it not designed for.

For me this lens can be my most used one when I don’t need shallow DOF.

ARCHITECTURE

if it’s to reflect the relationship of human and building, then some vignetting could be a good feature.

if it’s showing a building surrounded by sky and landscape, again, it ‘s fine

if showing a section of building, then the vignetting’s better corrected.

the real challenge is the corner softness.  No way to ‘correct’, unless cropped but need to be considered when shooting. And it’s not a 28mm anymore, so quite limited.

I heard distortion is none which make it superb for architecture photographing.

LANDSCAPING

I guess it more to personal taste.

STREET

Perfect?

DAILY/EVENT RECORDING

Almost perfect depending on personal taste.

— — —

What have I been wrong or missed above?

PS. I assume it to be used with a high ISO usable body like monochrome.
