Hans64 Posted April 6, 2021 Share #1  Posted April 6, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Does anyone have an anser to why the first R-lens was manufactured in 1962 but the first Leicaflex wasn't manufactured until 1964? Was the Leicaflex delayed or something? The reason I ask is because I noticed that I got a Summicron-R 50/f2 from the very first serie of the R-lenses. Thanks in advance. a.noctilux Posted April 6, 2021 Share #2  Posted April 6, 2021 Hello Welcome here Hans64. Which source do you use ? From Wiki link , Summicron-R 50mm, first year production 1962 ( maybe an error here ?) as other sources say 1964 first year. Or maybe Leitz anticipation of lens production before releasing the Leicaflex ? you can find your lens year by serial number. Elmarit-R 2.8/35mm (first year 1963 of 100+500 units for this 35mm) another explanation is "allocated serial number" (but not production year ?) Leicaflex, from 1964...in Wiki
