mtittel Posted March 21, 2021 Share #1  Posted March 21, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Noticed about 5 DNGS i shot at the last few minutes of a shoot are showing an odd curved hair-like digital anomaly (see attached full frame JPGs and a zoomed in detail) along the right edge of the vertical frame but on a few it appeared in different spots: one near the center and one to the left of center. All images shot with the same card, same SL2 and 50mm f1.4 Summilux SL lens. Has anyone else seen something like this and if so what is it and how do i make sure it doesn't happen again? UPDATE: the line may correspond to the grid lines of the built in lens profile? they seem to match "distortion" grid lines pretty closely. They show up in both Light Room and Photoshop. They are not visible when reviewing in the camera or as Lightroom previews directly off the card. (the sensor looks immaculate to my eye...not scratches or dust of any sort). Wondering if it has something to do with the "built in" lens profile this newer SL lens has? Thoughts? (btw i can't seem to replicate the problem on new images that i shoot on either the original card or a fresh one.) Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Hi mtittel, Take a look here SL2 DNGs Have a "Digital Scratch". I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
beewee Posted March 21, 2021 Share #2  Posted March 21, 2021 You should physically inspect your sensor to make sure there’s no hair on it or crack. If it was a sensor failure, I’d expect the line to be perfectly straight and not curved.

mtittel Posted March 21, 2021 Author Share #5  Posted March 21, 2021 doesn't look at all like noise and the fact that its perfectly curved like the lens profile distortion is an uncanny coincidence.

It does not reveal itself when you preview the images off the SD card (via LR) or on the camera even zooming in. It only shows up when its imported into LR or PS. FlashGordonPhotography Posted March 21, 2021 Share #13 Â Posted March 21, 2021 That's a blown line on the sensor. Your camera is going to need a holiday to the mothership for repair. Gordon

I’d return the camera if you can. If you can’t, you’ll need to send it to Wetzlar.

I had a Sony TV that did that. Line was there one day and not the next. Slowly got worse until it was always there. You can try a camera reset but I would bet on a new sensor. This is very unusual for an SL2 but unfortunately shit happens!! Gordon
