Artichoke Posted August 26, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 26, 2007 I am not a big fan of painted photographs, but this one works quite well the texturing of the waves is wonderful well done!
carylwithay Posted August 26, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted August 26, 2007 Thank you Dirk and Arthur. Arthur, if you think of it as a painting and not a painted photo, you may like it better. I use the photo as a canvas. When I used film, I used the print as a canvas and actually painted on it with real paints so it was a painting but on paper and not canvas. Hopoe I can convert you. stuny Posted August 26, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 26, 2007 Caryl - Perhaps your best "oainted" one posted so far, suggestive of Homer and Hopper.
jotam Posted August 29, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 29, 2007 Caryl, Your «painted waves» raises the historic issue of the hard conviviality between painting and photography. José
carylwithay Posted August 29, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted August 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jose, it is a question of Photography or ART. I think lots of photogrraphy is art and painted photos are certainly on the art side. It is a time honored debate and will always be IMO Caryl
samwells Posted August 29, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 29, 2007 Caryl - Beautiful textures and a lovely 'frothiness' which is emphasised by the technique...don't care whether it's a photo or a painting...it's an image! cheers: Sam
