andybarton Posted August 13, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) R8/28 ROM/Ilford XP2 I don't like this film very much.
Advertisement Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Point of Aire. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jmr Posted August 13, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 13, 2006 Andy, this one's a bit dark, even on my shiny-bright Apple display.
andybarton Posted August 13, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted August 13, 2006 I'm not sure if it works, either
andybarton Posted August 13, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted August 13, 2006 How's this one? Contre-jour is always difficult to get right.
biglouis Posted August 13, 2006 Share #5 Posted August 13, 2006 Andy What a staggeringly good photograph (version 2). I wonder if it would work if you just cropped it to the clouds on their own? LouisB
elansprint72 Posted August 13, 2006 Share #6 Posted August 13, 2006 Well I like #2 anyway, apart from it being too tall to fit on my screen. Point of order: Point of Aire? Shurely shome mishtake? Point of Ayr or Air? And yes, I will stop calling you Shirley.
jmr Posted August 13, 2006 Share #7 Posted August 13, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Andy, much nicer - it works for me.
Sandokan Posted August 13, 2006 Share #8 Posted August 13, 2006 I also like the second one more. As for XP2 - I was disappointed when I tried it a few months ago, but have just run a couple more through the M6, rating it at 500 - I will let you know the results when I get them back. I am not even certain what was wrong with it? It just appeared "grey" and unlike the other B&W images I see on this forum, it had no "character". Andy, why dont you like it? andybarton Posted August 13, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted August 13, 2006 It doesn't seem to scan very well and, as you say, is "grey". Takes a bit of PS work to get it right. I only used it because I needed some 400 for a specific task and finished off on this beach walk. The "Grandad" shot has turned out OK, though. I much prefer proper B&W film, I have to say. leicamann Posted August 13, 2006 Share #10 Posted August 13, 2006 Good shot, I agree with you a roll of Delta 100 Pro would have been beyond compare...I used to be a great fan of XP2..its good and sharp for indoor use,but seems to lack contrast and depth in outdoor shots. Thanks for your posting Regards, Leica Mann
darkness30 Posted August 13, 2006 Share #11 Posted August 13, 2006 Andy, i prefer the dark one but it might be because of my monitor. It seems theres more detail in the first one here. However both are very welldone. Thanks, Mehmet
