Wondering if it's helpful or even necessary. Thoughts?

I purchased the Expert Shield Glass Protector SL2 for $19.95 or you can buy the Leica-branded glass screen protector for double the price @ $40-  Leica Premium Hybrid Glass Display Protection for Leica SL2  It's basically the same product. The images in both listings are wrong, as it's made of glass, the protector's not flexible. It gives me peace of mind when I drag my camera all over Africa on safari.

FWIW I've found the same case with the electronic cable shutter release, I purchased the Hama for $20- the Leica one is $175- they're identical, except that one is Leica branded.  Leica must really think that we're complete chumps.

I’ve been meaning to add in, and will likely get the Expert Shield.  I’ve had great success with that brand on other items.

great tip for the shutter release.  I’m going to have to find one of those Hama units.  Makes me wonder if they have an audio adapter for the SL.  I refuse to pay $200 to Leica.

Have a look here: Pixel Wired Shutter Remote Control Cable L1 Release for Leica  it's identical to the Leica release, except that it's a 2.5mm jack . Not sure about the SL, but for the SL2 you also need this adapter:  3.5mm Male to 2.5mm Female Audio Headphone Adapter Headset Converter 3 Ring Jack Plug  It must be a 3 ring adapter in order to work. You're in for all of $19.00
