Here it is! Will test it properly this weekend.

Holds nicely in a Dr-Bag SC001 ;)

Too bad you can't put the camera body against the camera plate stopper... it might spin a little when under pressure.... Shame Leica had to suppress the location pinhole b/c IBIS.

@hansvons and @Svetozar did you guys get your cages? I did order one from the same shop... its a bit delayed I guess because of brexit.... can't wait for it!

Would you share any picture of your respective set ups? :)

How is it working for your SL2 cameras so far?

@Slender Sorry for my late response. I have also received my cage but still waiting for my camera :( Since all the shops are closed until 7th of April I can not get my SL2-S to try the cage. As I can see on @hansvons photos it fits perfectly :)

I would for sure post my rig when my camera come..

If you really force on it just for kicks, sure, the top part will bend up/down by a millimeter or so... but under the load of the handle+atomos it doesnt flex/sag. And I can lift the whole thing + TRIPOD from the top... no flex I could perceive in my hands.

I guess if you are mad enough to want to actually shoot (L)PL anamorphics + FIZ then yeah, LockCircle is the way to go.

I really wonder why they discontinued this item. It is my 3rd purchase with small rig (not the 3rd encounter, but the 3rd time I buy for myself) and I have to say I am really glad I didn't bite the LockCircle bullet... b/c this one I could use with other cameras I suspect, built quality is great. It feels strong and very practical to keep the nice SL2 grip as is... and the fact you can just disconnect the cable and slide the camera out back in "still" mode so swiftly is really charming.

The only let down so far is the plate, but that's not the item's fault it was really meant for a different camera. I wish it was ArcaSwiss and with an optional twisting stopper you could screw at the back or front.

I will share more as I go.

Finally, I tried the Tiltaing Panasonic S Series Kit A. It is really close to perfect fit and very **beautifully made. The grip of the cage and the grip of the camera fit very nicely.

The battery and all ports are accessible, but the door for the **memory card cannot clear the lug/slot for the hand strap (not showing on the stock images, but comes with my BH purchase). It should be easy to cut the lug off but we will need to find an awkward/second point to secure the hand strap. I may decide to live with it, if I can use the external recorder most of the time.

Apologize that I forgot to take some photos before we leave for a few days, but don't want to hold off this news any longer. I will post some pictures once we return early next week.

Cheers,

Steve

1. Front

2. Back

3. Top

4. Screw holes for the PL or EF adapter support plate:
- The mounting height is designed for S1/H.
- I did not have a S1H to A/B compare the height of the lens mount. From the eyeball, the SL2 mount is lower by few millimeters into the lens mount guard on the cage.
- I am ordering a PL adapter support plate for the Sigma MC-31, and will report the fitment after the long weekend here.

5. The memory card door misses the clearance by few millimeters. Probably we can put a neoprene pad to rise the base up a bit. But the strap most likely needs to be removed. To rise the base may help the #4 observation above, if the lens mount of SL2 is lower than S1H. Stay tuned for my test to confirm.

6. We can still use the finger to push in the level to release the battery. Not perfect, but works.

7. left side door/ports all clear

Cheers!

Update:

The PL adapter support plate is not working. My preliminary assumption is that S1H is taller and sits toward the front more. Sorry, mates. No good news. I will move on to get a S1H or a BMPCC 6K Pro for video, and shoot still with my other Leicas.

Cheers,
Steve

A perfect match with just a little bit of tweaking: the SMALLRIG Cage for Panasonic S1H - CCP2488

I had to cut off a little bit of the cage on the right side - everything else matches perfectly.

The doors / covers on both sides of the camera can be opened without any problems and also the battery can be released without any problems.

I glued a thin rubber plate on the front of the cage and the SL2-S sits in the cage as if it was made for it 😎

I'm looking for an affordable camera cage that will protect the HDMI plug/port and allows for mounting a NinjaV. Any recommendations are heartily welcome!
