I don't know anything about the myth you ask of, but I can attest to the harsh weather.  I was in the Army stationed in the area and we swore it was the coldest place in the world.  Beautiful country and I look forward to returning, but in the spring.

Not quite right, it's the myth of the giant Mils. His grave is under Mount Milseburg .....
