I don't see anyone complaining about the 75mm Leica but will you be equally satisfied with the XCD 90mm is the primary question.. Let's say you're not a biased Leica shooter Which of the below setup would you choose for a day of portrait shooting? a) X1D + XCD 90mm f3.2 b) SL2 or SL2-S + SL 75mm f2 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

For portraiture, I prefer the 4:3 proportions of the Hasselblad sensor. I'd have to crop away a healthy percentage of the SL2 frame to achieve that format, reducing the SL2's pixel resolution equality. Plus the Hasselblad X1D sensor has a dynamic range advantage. So I'd pick the Hasselblad over the Leica in this competition, never mind that the X1D II body plus XCD 90mm f/3.2 is possibly a fraction less expensive. The only point of question is whether I would be using autofocus, and what my expectations of demand in using it might be ... I don't use autofocus very often, and haven't used either the SL2 or Summicron-SL 75mm lens (I had the SL and used it quite a lot, but the end of that time pre-dated the availability of the 75mm f/2 native lens). I don’t have the x1d II but have the x1d and the 90mm is on its way to me.. it’s comes at half the price of the Leica 75mm so I was wondering if twice the price and reduced format size can be justified.. ramarren Posted February 15, 2021 Share #5 Posted February 15, 2021 I use the XCD 90mm lens on the Hasselblad 907x body. My (second hand) example arrived last week and I went out to test it. I've owned and used the Leica Summilux-M 75mm f/1.4 in the film era and still have my Summarit-M 75mm f/2.4 (used on SL, M-P240, M-D262 in the past, and now CL + M4-2 bodies). The XCD 90mm lens does not disappoint at all! This is a link to a gallery of my first walk and test shoot using the lens. I mostly kept to f/3.2 to f/6.8 since I had reasonably good if modest light throughout the outing: Santa Clara Neighborhood Walk 2021. I'm sure you'll like it. It's a delightful lens, not too big and not too heavy. I'd considered the XCD 80/1.9 as well, but it is quite a lot heavier and a bit larger, but then the deal for this 90mm example came up at an excellent price and I could not resist it. :) G 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have the XCD 21mm as well, and will acquire the XCD 120mm macro lens as well at some point. (I have plenty of other macro lens options, several of which I can adapt to the 907x, so the XCD 120 macro is a low priority.) I tend to use the 45P the most ... it's much like having the 80mm "normal" lens on a 500CM, always my most used lens. All the XCD lenses are excellent quality performers, the rendering differences to other lenses are nuances and a matter of what you like a little more as Alistairm points out. The full resolution images are sharper than the JPEGs you can find on Flickr.com. I would allow to open as much as possible, because it makes the bokeh at f3.2 nicer/rounder.
