fotografr Posted February 11, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently picked up a 28mm Summilux asph and was under the impression it accepted a series 8 filter. I purchased an ND series 8 from B&H, and now that I have it there's no way it works with this lens. My version of the lens has no internal threading, just external which is how the hood screws on. The only threading on the hood is that which screws onto the lens. Can someone tell me what filter size is correct and how to attach it? Thanks much. Cheers, Brent

Cheers, Brent Brent, from B&H specs , the filter should be e49: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1152842-REG/leica_11668_summilux_m_28mm_f_1_4_asph.html/specs Is there a front ring covering the internal thread ? Tp2000 Posted February 11, 2021 Share #3 Posted February 11, 2021 (edited) Unscrew the hood, there's a ring underneath that and unscrew that (mine was horrendously tight, so took a few goes). Filters are e49. Hood screws back on over the top. Similar to the 35mm FLE. Edited February 11, 2021 by Tp2000
fotografr Posted February 11, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted February 11, 2021 Thanks very much. You guys are correct. The ring was extremely tight but I did get it off and was able to screw on a 49mm filter, then the shade over it. Much appreciated!! irija Posted May 27, 2022 Share #5 Posted May 27, 2022 This definitely helped me out. I almost couldn’t find the “extra” ring but all good now w/ the Leica E49 UVa II Filter (Black)! I honestly thought I might have gotten the wrong ring. Haha. Had to read reviews and kept on double checking then I google searched and this thread came up! So excited to shoot with my newly acquired 28mm Lux!
Photoworks Posted May 29, 2022 Share #6 Posted May 29, 2022 Did the 28 Lux ever come out in silver?

Herr Barnack Posted June 10, 2022 Share #8 Posted June 10, 2022 (edited) I have found these to be a godsend in terms of removing stuck filters, too tight thread protector rings and the lens hood on my Q2 that only Godzilla could unscrew without a pipe wrench: https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Arthritis-Insulation-Coasters-Multi-Purpose/dp/B09VT14G6W/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=9FZXVHOM4ROA&keywords=silicone+jar+lid+opener&qid=1654873924&sprefix=silicone+jar+lid+opener%2Caps%2C184&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExMktZSTJKTzQwR1JLJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDY2NDA1VUJMUEdWSkVCTUczJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAwNjQ2NDYyRFZZQVBEU1hZODAyJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== They are also available at Bed, Bath & Beyond stores. Herr Barnack Posted June 11, 2022 Share #10 Posted June 11, 2022 (edited) @Gobert That's weird - I just clicked on my link in the quote in your reply and it took me to the "Silicone Rubber Jar Opener Gripper Pad" product page (below). Maybe it's sunspots affecting the intergooglefaceweb today... Welcome, dear visitor!
