If you look closely you can see a plane coming in on final approach to our airport. I was imagining what the captain was announcing to the passengers and it was probably something like this:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the captain. We are on our final approach for landing in Madison, Wisconsin. The sky is clear and the temperature is minus 12 degrees Fahrenheit. Thank you for flying with us and have a nice day."

Quite lovely.

BTW:  Two or three weeks ago, on CBS Sunday Morning, they aired a segment on where can you go to live in the US to avoid mudslides, tornadoes, rising sea levels, drought, etc. and pronounced Madison as the ideal spot.  Your mayor (she seems to be really good) stated that the winters are becoming significantly less severe.

Yes, we saw that and had a good laugh about it. Two years ago we had a very, very wet spring and the water levels on the nearby lake and river were exceptionally high. Then a storm came in that dumped 8 inches of rain 10 miles to our north. Had it been just a few miles further south, our part of this isthmus city would have been under several feet of water. But, it's true we don't have to worry about mudslides. 😁
