Hi,

I have recently received the camera I have been wanting for so long, a Leica M6!

all seems good except a mark within the focus area, after doing lots of searching I can’t seem to find anything where someone has had the same issue, not on an m6 anyway.

I have asked the previous owner (who I do not know) who says he never noticed it when he had the camera which was in use until I took ownership.

could it be something like a hair etc or something else.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Welcome to the forum.

In my view, if this "hair" don't disturb the focussing process, I'd leave it there.

As said, the former user didn't care to "see" it.

In my long M user life, I had seen in various M those "hairs" (or kind of cracking or fungus or glas-separation or what else ) corrected or not when I send for CLA.

I just used the Ms as usual if otherwise the Ms worked.

I don't think it's a crack, in the top photo it runs along the bottom edge and appears go come back in again on the left hand edge. It's maybe a fibre that has shaken out in transit, it may go away again, otherwise use the camera, it's not worth having it serviced just for that.
