Bovus Posted January 25, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I've recently acquired an R6.2, and shot the first few rolls without any issues. This morning I noticed that the viewfinder display, and the shutterspeed dial don't seem to sync up. EG "X" on the dial displays "Bulb", and "60" on the dial displays "2000". Has anyone had an issue of the sort before? Any ideas on how to fix this would be most welcome. IMG_2629.mp4
Advertisement Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Hi Bovus, Take a look here Leica R6.2 shutter speed display issue. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wlaidlaw Posted January 25, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2021 Possibly a bad electrical contact under the shutter dial. I was given an apparently dead R4-MOT when I bought a Telyt MR-500 Mk.2 lens (it was all sold originally as a kit and came to me in the correct fitted Leica leather case). I took the top cover off and cleaned all the switch contacts under the shutter speed, mode and ISO dials. They were not only dirty but slightly corroded. I cleaned them off and then put a very thin smear of SGB Electrolube on the contacts. To my delight on reassembling the camera, being very careful to fold the ribbon cables correctly or pinch any of the very thin wires, it all sprang to life, with everything reading correctly. I am guessing that these switches were not fully sealed and moisture from breathing over them, gets onto the contacts. Wilson
Bovus Posted January 25, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted January 25, 2021 Thanks for the very thorough feedback Wilson! I'm not sure my level of expertise will allow me top open the hood but this is helpful nonetheless.
jrh68uk Posted January 29, 2021 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2021 As this is an R6.2, where the link between dial and viewfinder display is purely mechanical, you'll be wanting to look into dodgy mechanical linkages. If you're comfortable whipping the top cover off, you may be able to see and correct the problem. If you're not confident at doing this, however, have a competent repair engineer look at it.
