jaapv Posted January 21, 2021 Share #2 Â Posted January 21, 2021 Spare parts are unobtainable. Better buy another body.
jrh68uk Posted January 23, 2021 Share #3  Posted January 23, 2021 My R7 has the same problem. I was using it one day and the d-o-f preview became stiff; stupidly carried on trying with greater force and it snapped internally. This isn't the plastic lever breaking by the way (as is reported elsewhere) but something became disconnected internally. I had it serviced recently (to fix a couple other issues) and was told this could not be repaired as it needs parts that aren't available. I use it now without being able to stop-down and it's no big deal as I don't often feel the need to use it. Having said that, I'll watch this thread with interest...
Sparkbrook Posted January 25, 2021 Share #4 Â Posted January 25, 2021 To any R5/R7 owner I would advise that you get some lighter fluid and go over all the Depth of field linkages and degunge them all. I had exactly the same on an R5 that wouldn't stop down properly and since cleaning it all, it now is working fine. Lighter fluid is excellent for cleaning camera parts as it dissolves dried up lubricants and evaporates really quickly. Use it sparingly with a Q Tip - it works really well.
jrh68uk Posted January 29, 2021 Share #5 Â Posted January 29, 2021 Too late for my R7, sadly :o( Â and by the sound of it, the OP's R5, too. I won't ever try to force one again.
