stuny Posted January 15, 2021 Author Share #3  Posted January 15, 2021 Henry - I'm nearly certain, it's a Maltese spaniel. There was an episode of Major Crimes in which a Maltese named Falcon was murdered. They played that joke throughout the episode. fotografr Posted January 19, 2021 Share #4  Posted January 19, 2021 I hope the poor guy escaped. He doesn't look too happy stuck in that purse. I'm not sure about the breed. I grew up with maltese terriers and their faces were completely covered with long hair.
stuny Posted January 19, 2021 Author Share #5  Posted January 19, 2021 Brent - This is a Maltese Spaniel - Spaniel's tend to have droopy ears, and terriers tend to have perky, erect ears.   Too many Maltese owners are lazy about grooming their dogs, and since Maltese have but a single layer of hair (most other dogs have two layers), and the hair is fine, it tends to mat unless well brushed daily. You'll often see them shorn everywhere except on the tail and head, and often, as with this one, the owner trimmed the hair over the eyes and near the mouth. Owners often do both those things rather than cleaning those areas daily. Many times when I've seen small dogs in purses I've thought the owner regarded the dogs as jewelry, or another accessory. Perhaps someday I'll tell you of my father's stealing an Australian Silky from a prima ballerina friend of his who neglected her dog.
