D A V I D Posted January 12, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 12, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear all, just got a m240 from a reseller (1 year warranty): The selector wheel does not work on one position: When for example selecting menues, the selection does not move to the next position - and then jumps two menues. I was able to repeat the error. Anybody had such a problem?
Advertisement Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Hi D A V I D, Take a look here Selector wheel. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 12, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 12, 2021 I would suggest returning this camera. There are plenty for sale without issues.
darylgo Posted January 12, 2021 Share #3 Posted January 12, 2021 I tried my M240 and both the selector wheel and D Pad move the menu one item. I could get it to jump if I accelerate the spin of the wheel but it is not normal.
david strachan Posted January 13, 2021 Share #4 Posted January 13, 2021 I've had the selector wheel act in a "jumpy" fashion too...on one of my M8's. Fixed it with a bit of squirt-in electrical contact cleaner. I'm sure it's due to slight corrosion or gunk build up and is easily cleaned. ... Contact cleaner worked fine on the X-Pro1, though I'd probably recommend dribbling in a couple of drops and not spraying inside if I wasn't certain the area was well sealed off from the rest of the interior. On a Sigma Quattro with similar issue it sufficed to "exercise" the wheel for a few minutes. Been working fine ever since. I'd probably start with that approach. D A V I D Posted January 13, 2021 Author Share #6 Posted January 13, 2021 Thank you for all the feedback. As I also had a problem with the range finder and focus peak not being aligned (when the range finder was aligned, focus peaking colour was not showing, and when i focused via focus peaking and colour shows, the range finder focusing was off) I returned the camera. I walked out with an M9 (upgraded to P and sensor changed)... such is life. She just felt right in my hands 🙂

Kind of Kodachrome like in a fashion. Got some stunning results when using a Summaron 35/2,8 on it. darylgo Posted January 13, 2021 Share #8 Posted January 13, 2021 (edited) Good luck David with your new Leica. I loved my M9 however it developed sensor corrosion and I traded it for an SL, I wish I hadn't. Edited January 13, 2021 by darylgo

You get the M9 for a god price still. Mine had the sensor replaced this summer, should be OK for a while.I contacted Leica Germany to get the a service history, I hope they can give it to me based on the serial number. I compared to some shots I did with the 240 (I took the same setup with the M9) and they both look great. It's difficult to set a difference. Some self portraits in studio indeed show pronounced red colour on the skin so I need to find the right correction in Lightroom to deal with it. As always, there are ups and downs, nothing you can't take care of in post (I always do post in LR). I use a Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 and love wet I get.
