When the M4-P * was launched, I've never seen M affixed with "P" after MP of '1950-60'.

So likely Professional M4, as if plain M4 or M4-2 was not good/tough enough for them 😄.

* maybe somewhere in Leitz/Leica litterature or in some reviews, I've seen that M Leica used by many professions

When I bought one M4-P (one of 1913-1983 anniversary model which I always use for time to time).

nice read here ...

At that time "P" was "Press" for me as I also happily (for short time use ) had the "loud" winder showed on the front brochure.

hard to resist ...combo traded using some old gear I don't remember

and the Noctilux was way out of my reach for long, long time.

at that time I had the M4-2 (without red dot like this brochure, maybe M5 also) not so "P" with that older M 😉

not that so appealing with "same" accessories ...
