Are they new firmware updates for SL lenses?

Yes. Link is here:  https://en.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-SL/Leica-SL2-S/Downloads

Go to the bottom of the page it's the last one - FIRMWARE LEICA SL LENSES - VERS. 2.0

FW update addresses & improves focus throw in MF mode on SL lenses & introduces Linear  MF control.

Do not install that firmware unless you have the SL2-S.

Why? Please explain.

I've installed it on both the VE 24-90mm L & 90-280mm L which I use on the SL2. The FW update has made a massive improvement in focusing these lenses in MF mode.

I've installed the new FW on 24-90, 90-280, 35SL and 90SL - very useful with MF - and all this with my very old SL2...

Well it looks like they have posted an update to the original one that was causing trouble so I was wrong in my statement. But to my defense I think it is confusing and misleading of Leica to post firmware under the SL2-S camera that applies to multiple (all?) SL models.

What happens when they post firmware that is only applicable to one model...

Considering all the hyperbolic marketing about minute & infinite attention to detail etc. I agree, it's very sloppy & casual of Leica to do this & it can lead to confusion.
