John Z. Goriup Posted December 18, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Only 55 of these were ever produced, and today are one of the most sought after Porsches ever made. This one belongs to a friend who ran one of the best known Porsche shops in Los Angeles, shown at its 'debut' at the Dana Point Concours, after a couple of year-long refurbishing, performed as fastidiously as possible and as a real labor of love. The sound is quite unforgettable.....the performance even more so ! M240-P / 35mm Summilux FLE JZG Welcome, dear visitor! John Z. Goriup Posted December 18, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted December 18, 2020 .............and the rear view - what most folks who tried to keep up with it on weekend runs got to see. A magnificent car, and a beautifully done example of the series. Thanks for looking. JZG Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted December 18, 2020 Share #4 Posted December 18, 2020 Here is my later slightly later G model 1977 3.3L RSR on the Scottish Malts Trial. I found it in a scrap yard in California in 2009, engineless and with a broken gearbox but rust free, so worth restoring. It was originally a Penske built race car. They are wonderful cars to drive as road cars. Even with 300BHP at 7200 RPM, the engine produces so much low down torque that if you put chunky tyres on it, you could use it for ploughing. The wide rear track and a Kazz smart limited slip differential make this an amazingly benign car to drive, with the lift off oversteer of earlier cars completely eliminated. It is a tad noisy inside however, with no sound deadening at all and very thin body panels plus a lot of whine from the competition 915 gearbox. Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! It is a pity that these license plates are forbidden in Germany License plates should be the least of the problem. Living in Stuttgart about halfway between the museums of Porsche and Mercedes, I often hear how naive customers hardly drive their newly acquired Porsche accident-free around the tight bend near my balcony. Just as the exhaust gas values were fraudulently tricked, I assume that the same was done with the loudness strength of the exhaust systems. I prefer relaxed driving on American highways because of its strict speed limits. Would-be racing drivers like James Dean should have to acquire a special driver's license at the level of a pilot's license or never bother other road users on public roads.
