nwphil Posted December 13, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 13, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I looked around, but could not find the thread where the Match Technical Lens Cap for Leica Q and Q2 Cameras was discussed/mentioned well, OP/TECH USA Hood Hat does fit the Q2M eith oem lens shade very nicely, but does not have the lanyard with clip and eyelet. The saved $40.00 likely will give me plenty of choice to get or make my own lanyard
Advertisement Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Hi nwphil, Take a look here Q2/Q2M lens shade hood/cap. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
HighlandK Posted December 13, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 13, 2020 I have used the OP Tech bonnet on previous Q and now Q2 without a lanyard. Can’t bear dangly things. Just scrunch it up and stick it in a pocket. Far better than the OEM lens cap, although I sense that the Q2 one is better fit than the Q one ever was!

Yeah, the lanyard think is so annoying, looks corny aside of getting in the way even when just dangling...I still rather loose the lens cap or bonnet than be caught with one. Getting the lim's hood, as I plan to use filters and prefer a pinch lens cap,; I am hoping it will still fit but just a tad snug, which should be fine Edited December 13, 2020 by nwphil
stuny Posted December 14, 2020 Share #4 Posted December 14, 2020 I always resisted lanyards on lens caps, but I tried it with my Match Technical, and like it well enough to have had it on the camera for at least three months. Try it out - there are times when you'll knock off even the Match Technical cap, and since it's soft, you won't hear it hit eh ground. It also looks far better than any other lens cap lanyard I've seen.

I am thinking of a rubber band hack of sorts, something that might keep the bonnet tight around the lens or covid-mask style - two small straps in each side. Go to work on a prototype and see how it looks...and if is not much of a pain t get it to work, as I am not sure where to get the straps to hold Edited December 14, 2020 by nwphil
huwm Posted December 16, 2020 Share #6 Posted December 16, 2020 Op tech gets my vote cant really see it falling off, I have the hood always in situ which may make it more secure though

I believe the lens diameter is slightly larger on the Q2 and therefore even more of a snug fit but never a problem on the Q either. I normally have the hood in situ but never a problem on the occasions when I have not had the hood on. Highly recommended.
Lucena Posted January 24, 2021 Share #8 Posted January 24, 2021 Had the issue on the Q as well as on the Q2. Hard to understand how such an expensive camera has not had this issue corrected...
Guest Posted January 29, 2021 Share #9 Posted January 29, 2021 How about the Q-Cap, beautifully made in Holland. Admittedly a bit expensive, but a very nice product indeed.

nwphil Posted January 29, 2021 Author Share #11 Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) the op-tech neoprene lens cover/hood hat does the trick for me, and not a big loss it dropped and lost. The small one does fit snug with lens shade on, and I do have the size up on a 50mm noctilux. if walking around I take it off, but to sit it down, or inside the bag it's perfect Edited January 29, 2021 by nwphil
