A walk took me through the first snow, in sunny places it was already thawed again. We now have winter with us ..... (God protect us from COVID!) Welcome, dear visitor! If you ever get close to Wild Flicken please post some shots. There used to be a live-fire military training facility there. We use to say it was the coldest place in the world during the winter. It seems like the wind constantly blew. Your photos remind me of how beautiful your part of the world is in the late fall and winter. I look forward to returning once we get safely past the COVID travel restrictions.
Ando Posted December 11, 2020 Author Share #8 Posted December 11, 2020 Yes, here in the international forum you occasionally meet people from the USA who were stationed in the Rhön some time ago, mostly in Wildflecken. And yes, the wind is still blowing ice cold! Not as cold as it used to be, but in the Rhön it is always at least 3 degrees Celsius colder than in Fulda .... Have a good time everyone! The Wildflecken military training area still exists, it is only used by the Bundeswehr, and a large data center for the army is currently being planned there (cyber war?). My photos were taken at Seiferts, near the Black Moor. Andreas/Ando

Was the frozen drop pic made with the Q2 Macro? Nice.

We were in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment with sister squadrons in Fulda and Bad Hersfeld. Our job was to monitor and defend the border along the Fulda gap. I'm pleased that the two Germanys were reunited and are prospering.

And also made a very strong crop out of the JPG image (2.6 P x 2.2 P: corresponds to approx. 5.7 MP). I then chased the whole thing through Topaz sharpen AI, which generally improves the image quality.
