P1505 Posted December 9, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 9, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello. Feel a bit embarrassed to be asking this but anyone know of a decent strap for the SL? One that doesn’t require metal rings to attach or has those tiny little adaptors with spider web thin but if fabric. I want to wrap the strap ends through the eyes of the SL so I know it’s strongly attached. It just arrived and damn it’s heavy. But blimey that 3:1 CEOP with the 21 on it. Wow! Cheers. XRayGuy Posted December 9, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 9, 2020 I would be very interested to hear what others say about this as well. There are plenty of straps out there but not as many without the rings or flimsy-feeling adapters. I have the Vi Vante Matador Noir for SL2 and I would say it feels quite sturdy and secure, and is made specifically for the slotted strap mount of the SL2. The downsides are that it is not that comfortable after long periods of time and quite expensive, even when on sale. If I could find something more comfortable with the same feeling of sturdiness I would try it.
ajmarton1 Posted December 9, 2020 Share #3 Posted December 9, 2020 I love Rock N Roll straps - by far the best selection and quality product out there. And I have tried quite a few luxury brands. I have them on all my cameras - Leica, Sony and Canon. I particularly love the Napa as it is so soft on my neck that it helps with the weight of any big DSLR. There are lots of styles and you can vary the length. I go extra long as l like my camera to hang low. https://rocknrollstraps.com/product-category/camera-straps/sl-straps/
bherman01545 Posted December 9, 2020 Share #4 Posted December 9, 2020 Maybe not as pretty as the Rocknroll straps, but they are comfortable, strong and highly functional. They used to be called UpStrap. https://journeycamera.com/camera-straps-slings-bags Either the XX or Mountain strap with the Kevlar Web ends Vectran Loop quick release ends is what I like -Brad

Harry Benz straps are incredible. Even though they look narrow they are comfortable to use all day. I’ve walked all day with the SL and the 24-90 VE cross body with his Brogue SL 135cm. He makes them longer too. Check out the Brogue SL/SL2 Long and Brogue SL/SL2
wjdrijfhout Posted December 10, 2020 Share #6 Posted December 10, 2020 +1 for the Brogue SL strap from Harry Benz. Extremely comfortable to wear, very well finished, very flexible high quality leather. The lugs to connect to camera are very smartly thought out and quite easy to put on/off camera. And his service is great. I had the original SL-version and when I upgraded to SL2, which requires slightly longer lugs, he sent me a pair of lugs at nominal cost, so I could continue to use my strap. Also have the Rock n Roll, but find that quite bulky (it takes over the bag when you’re squeezing it all in) and it has a rather difficult mechanism to take on/off camera (that seems to be improved with the new version). But the biggest issue for me is that the back of the leather is rough and untreated, so in use I often find little pieces of leather on my camera, in the bag etc. The claim to fame for the rock n roll straps is the flex/damping when hanging a heavy camera. This is nice, but any strap of long leather will have some flexibility and the design of the Brogue with the holes in the leather provides sufficient damping to be very comfortable. Anbaric Posted December 10, 2020 Share #7 Posted December 10, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wouldn't something like a simple Nikon AN-4B work?: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/37064-REG/Nikon_639_AN_4B_Nylon_Neck_Strap.html Or if you need something wider or longer, an Op/Tech strap with the 3/8" webbing connectors? These are tough nylon rather than leather, but about $200 cheaper than the Harry Benz. 🙂

P1505 Posted December 11, 2020 Author Share #9 Posted December 11, 2020 Cheers all. Some amazing straps. But I went for the £20 Nikon strap suggested by Anbaric. I’ll invest the change in new glass

hirohhhh Posted December 11, 2020 Share #12 Posted December 11, 2020 I have Peak Design Slide strap, which is nice and comfy and can detach/attach easily, but I hate the metal parts that scratched my camera in the bag on the first day. Since then, I'm more careful when placing the camera in the bag. Other than that, great straps and clever way of attaching it with the clips. I can't imagine getting back on the old school loop designs that's like a puzzle and requires a manual how to attach it

That and the reports of previous generations of fasteners breaking make me nervous about trusting it.
