I'm no fan of the M.240, and skipped that generation; even bought a M-A instead of upgrading my M9 back then.

The M10 is great, I find the M10M even more refined, so today I would aim for the M10-R instead of the M10.

If upgrading the M.240 motivates you to get out and take more photos, go for it.

The 75mm is probably my sharpest lens, but agree it does not pair well with a 50mm and/or a single body.

The 75mm seems to be one of the most commonly up for sale lenses; it's not easy to use.

A lot depends on your personality.  I have always been an early adapter and beta tester of things.  So I have a natural bias to trade up as Leica generally improves on each model and as I wear glasses the EVF is a big factor for me.  I also prefer the better resolution of the raw files.  I traded the M10 for the M10P and my Monchrom for the M10 Monochrom as I thought that was a better generational jump.  The only bodies I have not traded are all my film bodies as I like to experiment every once in a while with a truly vintage setup.  As for lenses, I used to "collect" them but after 5-6 years of not using many of the lenses (including the Noc), I trimmed my "collection" down to the 28mm, 35mm and 50mm lux' ASPH versions and find that I can cover most of my needs with this group.  I also have other camera systems when I need a longer or more versatile setup.

I have an M240 and the 75 cron, additionally the 35 cron and the 24 Elmar ..... I sometimes think of trading the 24 & 35 for a 28, but honestly each of these lens are awesome in my opinion and I just know I would regret selling any ...... especially the 75..... and BTW I went with the 75 over the 90 due to size and weight and am very happy many years later with the 75

I use the M240 and the M10 bodies interchangeably, slight refinements here and there.  Colors can easily mimic other cameras in post.  The M10-R has greater highlight recovery.

The M240 continues to be more versatile with the multifunction grip allowing both evf and flash, an ac adapter, tethering (does software continue to support this?). The M240 has video.

Is there a lens that you would use more than the 75?  I’m a 50mm shooter, I could live with the focal length forever. The ver 1 or 2 50mm Summilux are gorgeous lenses,  giving a different look than the apo Asph fle current version.

Actually I'm a 35 mm shooter. I have an excellent 35mm Distagon as a first and single lens for almost two years and then I get a 35 mm color skopar for street.  I'm very happy with both. After Distagon I purchased a 75mm Apo Summicron lens and 21mm Biogon lens. I thought that it was the ultimate lens set for my M240, until I purchase a 50mm Summilux Asph. After getting 50 lux, I rarely use 75mm  due to similar signature and easier to focus the 50mm. And also 50mm has also a dramatic character when you use it wide-open in contrast to 75mm which has more clinical results without any optical flaw. In SLR days, I was using tele lenses more, after getting rangefinder I like (or an obligation)  the 35/50 focal lengths.

One issue with the tinner M10 (I use the M240) is the smaller battery. I did a shoot where I got 2400 images on one battery in a day and one very sore eye...

As for focus on the 75mm. I have had mine back to Leica more than once, but not the focus is now perfect.

Both amazing lenses and I would never sell a great lens to buy a camera body. IMO camera bodies come and go and it's always been good practise to put your money into lenses over camera bodies.

I used a pair of M240s for many years. It's a fantastic camera. I now shoot M10's. Is the M10 better than the M240? In some ways yes, a little in other ways no. It rather depends on your application of course. If I was asked if it is a massive step change in performance worthy of parting with my 75mm APO cron, absolutely not... in my opinion of course.

I don't use the 75mm lens so much, but when I do, it produces amazing results.

Great images, which I assume were taken with the M240. Did you use the APO Summicron, or other lenses? What program do you use to process the raws? The skin tones are really something.

Yes M240. No post processing (crop for first one).

Just out of camera jpeg.
