01maciel Posted November 20, 2020 Share #1  Posted November 20, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) According to the M10 manual some of the old lenses cannot be used, e.g. Hologon 15mm/f8 or the Elmar 90mm/f4. Other lenses have restrictions and there are risks to damage the camera. But what about the Elmar 1:2.8/50mm collapsible from 1965? As @farnz pointed out in another thread, there three differenz Elmar lenses: Am 21.8.2020 um 03:16 schrieb farnz: Just to clarify, Bob, there are three different 50mm Elmar-M lenses (in bayonet mount), all collapsible: 50/3.5 Elmar-M (1953 -1962) Serial # 1,302 - 1,700,000 50/2.8 Elmar-M (1957 - 1972) Serial # 1,402,001 - 2,503,100 50/2.8 Elmar-M (1994 - 2007), Serial # 3,668,031 - n/a

Good To Be Retired Posted November 20, 2020 Share #2 Â Posted November 20, 2020 (edited) Leica is quite conservative regarding such warnings. Â Are you inquiring in regard to whether it is safe to collapse it into the camera or some other issue? This thread, along with about a dozen others if you google something like "collapsing lens on Leica M10" may be of interest. No sir. Look in the camera and the first thing you see is the shutter. THAT is what would be hit first. Collapse the lens while it’s off the camera and see how far the rear sticks out while collapsed. It doesn’t stick out far enough on the lens to hit anything. It is recommended to mount it while extended so as not to scratch the throat of the camera. Once mounted it won’t reach far enough into the camera to hit anything. The one I have is a 2.0 Summicron from 1956. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
