Edited November 11, 2020 by Guytou
Advertisement Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 Hi Guytou, Take a look here Zoom TL 18-56 + Elpro D - E69 ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted November 11, 2020 Share #2 Posted November 11, 2020 For the majority of members who don't understand french...🙄 Quote Hello, I will soon replace my X Vario with a CL + 18-56. Do you think I can use an Elpro E69 with the 18-56 zoom by 69> 52 ring? I also have a Raynox 150 close-up which I would also like to use with the 18-56 + 43> 52 ring zoom. Is this possible without vignetting? Thank you for your feedback.
wda Posted November 11, 2020 Share #3 Posted November 11, 2020 Hold it in place and try it. If it works for you, get an adapter. I see no reason why it should not work. It is an excellent close-up lens.
jaapv Posted November 11, 2020 Share #4 Posted November 11, 2020 The lens doesn't vignette using an Elpro3 on a step-down ring, so you should be fine.
Guytou Posted November 11, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted November 11, 2020 (edited) I apologize for forgetting to use English in my questions. 😔 Thank you very much for your answers. I have tried using the Elpro E69 with the X Vario in the 70mm position (no adapter) and it looks correct to me. I hope there will be no vignetting with the 43 > 52 ring for the Raynox 150 and 250 close-up. If I'm not happy with the results, then I'll think about the Elpro 52 ... Guytou Guytou, if possible, retain your X Vario for back-up duties and for close range photography. Macro is rather more effective with the XV because its macro mode is designed to work with the 70 mm zoom setting.
Guytou Posted November 12, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted November 12, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the good advice David. I also thought about keeping the X Vario in addition to the future CL, but I hesitate because I do not want to store more material. The sale of the X Vario + EVF 2 (even at a low price) would slightly reduce the price of the new purchase ... On the other hand I do a lot less macro today and I think the 18-56 + Elpro 69 should be enough for me. The timing is also bad for me because the CL is now 3 years old and I think that in 2021 a possible CL 2 could see the light of day. Maybe I'll think more ... jaapv Posted November 12, 2020 Share #8 Posted November 12, 2020 I don't know whether you have the 55-135, but I prefer doing macro with that lens+Elpro.
Guytou Posted November 12, 2020 Author Share #9 Posted November 12, 2020 Hello Jaap, After more than 40 years of photography and a large amount of accumulated material that I ended up selling ten years ago, I had resolved to have only one camera. So after my many Contax, Nikon and Leica I bought the X Vario (along with a venerable Digilux 2 and D-Lux 5 for a few trips.) I no longer wanted a camera with interchangeable lenses to avoid being tempted again by other lenses and accessories. I don't want to do this again and I hope to stop at the 18-56 zoom ... jaapv Posted November 13, 2020 Share #10 Posted November 13, 2020 It should certainly work for you.
Guytou Posted November 13, 2020 Author Share #11 Posted November 13, 2020 I think I'll keep my X Vario a bit, probably until the beginning of the year, but then I'll buy the CL + 18-56 which I really like. If I let myself be tempted by a second lens, it may be the 60 macro. If however my Prime Minister agrees ... 😉 Guytou
Guytou Posted November 14, 2020 Author Share #12 Posted November 14, 2020 Hello, I think I found a Leica CL + TL 18-56 + TL 18 + handle + thumb + boxes + documents in mint condition. Because of the confinement, the seller sends me everything and then I make up my mind. It is very honorable of her ... I'm having a problem trying my Elpro 69 on the zoom 18-56. My Elpro 69 has a 69mm male thread (not common) and I think I will need 2 or 3 reducing rings to get to the 52mm female thread on the zoom. Unfortunately, I cannot find these rings on the web. Do you know where I can find these rings? thank you very much, Guytou
jaapv Posted November 14, 2020 Share #13 Posted November 14, 2020 Amazon - both step-up and step-down in all sizes. Don't buy el-cheapo ones - I have a 39-52 welded to my 18/2.8. If I ever want it removed, I'll have to send it in to a professional.
Guytou Posted November 14, 2020 Author Share #14 Posted November 14, 2020 Thanks to you Jaap. I had a great time this afternoon looking but I really can't find any reducer rings with 69mm female thread. Finding the following ones seems easier but the first one is too difficult. I will give up ... Guytou
Guytou Posted November 14, 2020 Author Share #15 Posted November 14, 2020 (edited) I just found more easily a ring 43 mm female thread and 52 mm male thread. I will be able to try my Raynox 150 and 250 (43 mm) step-ups directly on the 18-56 zoom. I hope the vignetting will be absent ... Guytou Posted November 19, 2020 Author Share #16 Posted November 19, 2020 Hello, That's it, I just took the plunge with the purchase of a Leica CL. It comes with the 18-56mm zoom + 18mm TL + Leica grip + Leica thumb. The set is hardly used and strictly as new with all original packaging and documents. I am really very happy and I have to sell my superb Leica X Vario and its accessories that I hope I will not regret ... Guytou

Guytou Well you will be enjoying a more advanced camera but do keep your XV if you can. But you have heard this before.
Guytou Posted November 19, 2020 Author Share #18 Posted November 19, 2020 Yes David, I thought for a long time to keep the X Vario which still looks like new (less than 1500 photos ...) and I can hardly use it now. But I find that there is a very good advance with the CL, especially the viewfinder. With the thumb rest, my thumb does not touch the directional pad and the AF point always remains centered. I was a little worried about that but no, it's really great ! Finally I think that I will also keep the 18 mm which allows to go in the streets with an almost tiny camera ... wda Posted November 19, 2020 Share #19 Posted November 19, 2020 You will find the CL with similar zoom lens a considerable upgrade in handling and performance. Enjoy it, and forget any compromises regarding the XV. You might like to consider offering the XV for sale through this website's Sales & Wants Section. Guytou Posted November 19, 2020 Author Share #20 Posted November 19, 2020 Merci David pour les informations sur la vente de mon X Vario. J'y penserai. Je n'ai pas encore fait d'annonces, mais ce ne sera pas long. D'autant que l'appareil et ses nombreux accessoires sont vraiment en superbe état.
