pedaes Posted November 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 8, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone have a Spyder X who had a Spyder 5? Do you see any difference in calibrated screen between them?
Advertisement Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Hi pedaes, Take a look here Datacolor Spyder X. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wlaidlaw Posted November 10, 2020 Share #2 Posted November 10, 2020 I have upgraded from Spyder 4 to Spyder X Studio Pro kit because Spyder 4 will not run in OS 10.15 Catalina as it is only a 32 bit device. I wish now I had bought an X-Rite Pro instead as it will generate ICC profiles which Spyder X won't. I need to be able to generate ICC camera profiles from a colour swatch card, as I am a Capture One user. If anyone wants to buy an X-Rite Pro and only needs DCP profiles for Lightroom, I would happily do a swap with some cash adjustment. As far as it goes Spyder X works just fine, is very simple to use and is considerably faster than previous versions. It generates DCP profiles very quickly from the included colour swatch card and DCP generation software. Hopefully Spyder X will work properly with OS 11 (Big Sur). Ramas Posted November 10, 2022 Share #6 Posted November 10, 2022 (edited) Why I'm getting so different calibration with spyder x? Can it be the cables? Samsung monitor connected with display cable and LG connected with HDMI...Samsung calibrated 95% of SRGB,LG calibrated 100% of SRGB.Any way,it cant be such big difference... Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted November 10, 2022 Share #7 Posted November 10, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Did you adjust the luminosity using the Spyder ? Did you have the screens running half an hour before calibrating? Did you set the screen type? You have a window behind one of the screens. Did you cover it or wait until evening to balance the ambient light?

jaapv Posted November 10, 2022 Share #9 Posted November 10, 2022 Strange. I have an Eizo CS on HDMI and a Samsung on USB-C. They calibrate as similarly as can be expected.
wlaidlaw Posted November 10, 2022 Share #10 Posted November 10, 2022 I bought a cheapish 22" LG screen for the old 2011 Mac Mini that sits in my bedroom, connected to a small (but good) audio system for streaming music. It has the worst colour of any screen I have ever seen. Calibrating it with my Datacolor Spyder made little to no improvement. As I mainly access the old Mini via Jump Desktop from a laptop, I just gave up. It seems to reset itself every time the screen restarts to horrible washed out and over bright, ignoring the parameter tailoring file from the Mac. The last LG screen I will ever buy although I like some of their other products. I had to buy a new TV for my French house this year, after the last one was killed by a lightning strike. I decided I did not like any of the far eastern makes, with their over-saturated and garish colour palette and have bought a Philips again (55" 4K). I also like the Ambilight feature on Philips TV's, that shines a matching colour backlight. The TV in our UK house is nearing its sell by date and I will definitely buy Philips again.
