Advertisement Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Hi jerzy, Take a look here Leica IIIf advance problems.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jerzy Posted November 7, 2020 Share #42 Posted November 7, 2020 this is the hole in the front plate to control the brass lever. Brass lever is not visible here as the photo is too dark but it has be on the right side of black bar which is visible. When mounting front plate set dial to 30 and release the shutter, it is easier to hook it then. Welcome, dear visitor! Wind the shutter then, and rotate slow speed dial towards 20/10/5 - the brass bar shall move black bar to the left
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Maybe it has something to do with the original problem I have of a clicky advance knob (at the end of its rotation). I've got the T and 1 set pretty much correctly (on T the shutter whirrs and remains open until I turn it to 1), there's barely any difference between 2 and 4, plus 20, 15 and 10 behave the same as 30, meaning quite fast. Steve H Posted November 7, 2020 Author Share #45 Posted November 7, 2020 One question, what do the numbers on the slow dial actually mean? I know 1 means one second, and I assume 2 is half that at a quarter of a second?
jerzy Posted November 7, 2020 Share #46 Posted November 7, 2020 30=1/30 sec, then 1/20th sec, 1/15th, 1/10th, 1/4th 1/2 (half a sec) 1 second. It is not adjustement missing, there is something wrongly put togethert, I still believe that the brass bar is not hooked correctly. the last chance for remote diagnosis is if you show me the photo showing the hole with brass bar visible. Does the brass bar moves black bar left and right when turning speed dial between 25 and 1 sec?
Steve H Posted November 7, 2020 Author Share #47 Posted November 7, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) The following picture shows the bar when set at 2. However, the only movement I see is when moving the dial from 30 to 4, where both the black and brass bar move slightly to the right. And back to the left when going from 4 to 30 of course. Apart from that, there is no other movement, not from 4 to T or 30 to 10. Welcome, dear visitor! Steve H Posted November 28, 2020 Author Share #49 Posted November 28, 2020 An update about the problems I had. As of right now, and after removing the top plate to see if could find the problem, then reassemble, the problem has seems to have fixed itself. There's no forcing of the advance knob any more and all the slow speed timings seem correct. There's only one question I have now. Is it possible to strip the control knob right down? The colour and the printing seem very dirty, and it's difficult to read. Obviously I've removed the knob more than once, so that's not an issue. But, apart from the washer inside, that's as far as I've been able to disassemble it. Welcome, dear visitor!
