nwphil Posted November 1, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted November 1, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, quick question for leica film camera's users - better yet of a M3 user: - any issues using the Macro Elmar 90mm with the M3.? obviously it's compatible, but the concern is mostly with using it with the googles adapter. Thanks for the help Edited November 1, 2020 by nwphil
Advertisement Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 Hi nwphil, Take a look here Leica M macro elmar 90mm on a M3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted November 2, 2020 Share #2  Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) Unfortunately I have no version of the Macro Elmar with the „goggles“ adapter, so I can give only an approximate answer:  The dual range 50mm Summicron or the close focus adaper „Somky“ work with the M 3 as well as the with the other M version which have a lower magnification for the viewfinder. So I cannot imagine a reason why the adapter with goggles for the Macro-Elmar would not work - the larger maginfication of the M3 viewfinder just gives you a larger image.  There may be a difference since the rangefinder coupling of the M3 works only down to distances of one meter or a little bit less. Though for sure one has to try it to find out.  Edited November 2, 2020 by UliWer

It makes sense - with a M6 there is no physical issues, and the RF works fine, but still are different machines.
