I searched around again and stumbled of this older posting which lists a lot of approved lens including the Elmar-M 50mm.   I don't have a camera yet to examine the fit personally.

 

 

SL2 issues with Leica M to L adapter

Both mentioned lenses can be found on the approved list.

I guess Leica is just lazy updating the list (The M-Adapter T was released in 2014).

Some newer lenses are listed on the bottom of the list, some are still missing (28 Summaron, 75 Noctilux) but they do work perfectly fine too.

I have no experience with the SL2 but i do use both CL and Elmar-M 50/2.8. The later works fine but cannot be collapsed into the body. If you do it the "tube" will hit the innards of the camera.

I own a collapsible Summicron 50 F/2.0 with works well on the CL. You can see what mention tommonego@gmail.com   that retracted it doen't go out the M- L adapter. Nevertheless always recommended to mount it extended, but you can retract it when attached.
