Rainstorm:  Rain falls from the clouds.

Sandstorm:  Sand does not fall from the clouds.

What's the point of your reply? I'm having a hard time understanding your response. OP dealt with sand that damaged his Q2 as a result of OP neglecting the fact that the Q2 is not weather-sealed unlike the camera you suggested in your previous post.

I'm no weather-boy, but all kinds of storms including the ones you mentioned are classified as a "wind", which is part of the weather.

That was my point:  A sandstorm is not a "sand" storm, but is a windstorm.

The Q2 is obviously not as well sealed as the Nikonos V, that I mentioned in #4 (above); I do not recall that Leica ever stated or implied that it is.  Operator error resulted in the damage to the @framecontrol's Q2, which he took responsibliity for in #12 (above):

Quote

"...By and large, I did something totally stupid and didn't protect the camera. Lesson learned and a mistake I'll never make again..."

The take-away is this:  Weather sealing that is effective against light up to medium rainfall does not mean that the Q2 is impermeable to anything and everything.

I was only attempting to highlight that piece of information.

Technicalities aside, I'm glad we dispersed a bit more knowledge to the people who misunderstood what an IP rating entails.
