twicij Posted October 1, 2020 Share #1  Posted October 1, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I bought a beautiful apparently unused Leica R lens from an estate sale to use with my CL, but it doesn’t fit my Novoflex adapter. It looks like the mounting flange was changed to a Nikon F mount, that's the cap on the back of the lens. Where can I get a Leica mounting flange to switch it back? Can I do this myself? It looks straightforward. If not, who can do it? The lens is a Leitz Elmar-R 1:4/180 3371192. Thanks for your help, D

jaapv Posted October 2, 2020 Share #2  Posted October 2, 2020 There are no R spare parts, so you either buy a lens for parts or get the Leica TL-M adapter and a cheap M-Nikon F adapter.
crisscross Posted October 2, 2020 Share #3 Â Posted October 2, 2020 Congrats on digging up such a great lens at an estate sale though! How much of a discount did you get?

Thanks for your help, D You could do it yourself, I changed a number of my R lenses to Leitax Sony alpha mounts & then back to their original R mounts again when I sold the Sony α900.  However it's easier & simpler purchase one of these Nikon F to L Mount adaptors for under $30- : Haoge Manual Lens Mount Adapter for Nikon Nikkor F/AI/AIS/D Lens to Leica L Mount Camera   I have a couple of these Haoge adaptors in R to L mount, they're well made.   Edited October 2, 2020 by michali
jaapv Posted October 2, 2020 Share #5 Â Posted October 2, 2020 Ah, yes, Leitax might be able to supply an R mount bayonet, although it is not listed on their site.

Another cheap source of R mount bayonets, which I've used in the past, is to buy an old R mount Teleconverter & scavenge the mount. These can be found on eBay for between $30- & $80-  Leica Leitz 11236 Extender-R 2x for Leica-R The quickest & easiest solution for the OP is the Nikon F to L mount adaptor. twicij Posted October 2, 2020 Author Share #8  Posted October 2, 2020 Thanks for everyone's help and sugestions. DAG had the part so I'm going to go that route. Adpaters are a good idea, but I have a 2x extender from KEH I want to try and see how that works. Hopefully it all comes togeher.  It was going for what I've seen them sell for used, so not a great discount other than having the case, caps, and mint condition (and wrong mount). Live and learn, I've usually done well with used gear. twicij Posted October 8, 2020 Author Share #9  Posted October 8, 2020 Hi, I received the R flange and it was straightforward to change the mount. Watch for the small ball bearing that 'clicks' the F stop, and unscrewing and screwing in the new mount was easy. Now I'm good to use my R lens adapter and 2x extender. On the first could of test shots I like the lens and would not one larger or heavier on a CL.
