The below four questions are really one in a sense.

1- How many M9's have this fall to white-out, dead sensor or circuit board, happen to them?  

2- Is it inevitable for all M9's?

2- How about for other camera makers is there known sensor death for all?

3-  Is this the new way all digital sensor cameras die?

I think the problem is even though a M9 is old in the terms of digital cameras its still expensive to buy today in the UK £1800-£2200, compare that to-

Canon 5dmk2 (released 2008) £400

Nikon d4 (2012) £750

I only paid £600 for a Nikon d810 which was released 2014 so if suddenly the sensor went wrong even if I had bought it new it wouldn't  be a £2000 paperweight.

Every M9 I've known about through my friends has had either their sensor replaced, corroded or in my case - complete whiteout. Would love to hear from anyone who has an original with original sensor still functioning (I personally do not know of a single person).

Yes - through corrosion, not because of  electronic failure like these two examples - that is pretty rare. Don't mix things up.

They certainly have the upper hand since my M9 is now essentially worthless.

I don't know about secondhand dealers in Sydney, but check with Camera Exchange in Box Hill and Camera Lane in Melbourne. Camera Exchange had a near mint silver chrome M10 for around or less than 8k not that long ago. Email both of them and see if they've got anything you might be interested in. I have often bought gear from both, they are reliable.
