Hello all. New to Leica and acquiring some second hand gear to start my journey. I recently picked up a used 35 Summarit 2.4. Upon arrival there was some rattling and the front lens ring, the piece with the lens details and serial # that surrounds the front element, had detached - photo attached. The seller seems reputable and was very apologetic, offering to take the lens back for a full refund. However, after using the lens over the weekend I absolutely love it.

It appears the component was attached via two small spots of glue. I’ve read suggestions on other sites ranging from double sided tape to Elmer’s glue to contact cement, with strict warnings to avoid things like super glue. Any guidance is appreciated. TIA.

Thank you both. I don’t disagree. I have acquired phenomenal used copies of an M10, 24 Elmar and 75 Summarit from Leica Store Miami. This 35 is my only copy from a private seller. Optically, and in every other respect, the lens is excellent. I suspect the ring detached while sitting in a warehouse during our biggest heatwave. I’ve been in contact with Leica Repair and the estimate is ridiculous (nearly half of what I paid for the lens) and 10 week turnaround time is not attractive.
