Leica M-A style black chrome levers for M4-2

Anybody knows if the black chrome film lever and the frame selector lever are available as spare parts? My M4-2 has problems with the plastic parts attached to these and I wonder if I can replace the levers by the solid metal ones of the M-A black chrome.Thanks!

In the EU, contact Leica's parts department in Wetzlar. In the US, Leica New Jersey was able to supply the MP style rewind and frame selector levers when I wanted to change for a M6 TTL Millennium.

I have done this with the M7. It was a bit of a hassle, when i contacted the Leica spareparts department in Wetzlar, this was their answer

Dear Mr. Verrips,
Thanks a lot for your mail. I have forwarded it to our distributor Transcontinenta as we are not allowed to sell directly to end users in countries we have a sales organisation in.

Transcontinenta won't do anything for you in this case, they will send you to the Leica Store Amsterdam. So you better contact them directly.
With my M7 they first send me the wrong advance lever, see picture. I don't know how many types there are, but keep that in mind.
Leica Store Amsterdam (Maarten & Jan-Willem) was very helpful to me.

Thanks for your message. I remember one time I requested something similar in Wetzlar and they directed me to an external repair station that wanted me to send in the camera. This at additional cost of course. Not worth the extra trouble in this case, I think.

Times change: in 1968 I bought my M4 instead of a new M3 (same price) partly because of the advance lever!

If I could go back in time I would definetly choose the M3. But not just because of the advance lever... 😉

I now have a couple of M3s in my collection, but the M4 is still my favorite. Perhaps the "first love syndrome"

First love syndrome indeed. The M4-2 was the first M I bought in 1986 after I had a M3-loaner for a while. In '94 I bought a brand new M6 and after that many more (M6TTL's and MP's, Digital M's). Now I'm back to just my M6 and M4-2 and feel like I finally arrived home again. Still looking for a nice M3 from my year of birth, just to complete my definite and final set.
