Binoculars made in Portugal Good or Bad ?

Thanks Andy.  My husband owns about 23 pairs of Leica bins.  He is a collector and likes to do  repairs himself.  This repair has almost beaten him.  Is Germany better than Portugal?  Can you give me an address.  I can write it in German if needs be.  Margaret S.

Leica  rarely supplies parts to private persons. However, they will repair binoculars, the older ones carry a lifelong guaranty. Just send them to  Portugal for repair, most likely refurbishment.

It deserves being said that not all overseas movement of production equates to lowered quality standards and the continued excellence from Leica over the decades since moving to Portugal for their binoculars is one of the best examples available. Even though my Trinovid and Ultravid binoculars are labeled as having been made in Germany, I'm positive that they come from Portugal, and yet I still like them.
