If you don't mind me asking, how much did this cost? I just had the same thing done with an MP240 and 90mm f2 APO. With shipping and insurance back it was $180. Your cost could be higher or lower, depending on how much you want him to insure the package being delivered back. Took him about 4 weeks as it sounds like he’s got a lot of Leicas coming in and going out.
Advertisement Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Hi Gregm61, Take a look here DAG Camera Repair. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shannon Atkinson Posted August 30, 2024 Share #62 Posted August 30, 2024 I spent a lot of time reading on this forum trying to decide on where to send my 35 Summilux so I thought Id follow up with my experience. I have a 35 LUX FLE that needed some attention. The focus was very loose and the hood was Loose as well. In addition to this it was really time to have a CLA done. I generally send my gear to Jersey, but after reading a ton here decided to try DAG. Don responded to my email within a couple of hours and told me turn around would be less than 3 weeks. Very acceptable, so I shipped the lens to him. He signed for its delivery on Thursday Aug 22nd, 2024. On Sunday the 25th I received this email... "Your Leica lens is ready- I decided to work on it right away in case parts were needed that I had to order- no parts needed- - Summilux 35mm asph. lens- tightened loose inner parts, cleaned, lubed, & adjusted for good working order- also tightened loose lens shade- $255.00 " I paypal'd him immediately the quote amount plus shipping and the lens was delivered on Wednesday the 28th. It's perfect. I am blown away. 8 days from my shipping out, to lens in hand. His work is perfect as everyone here says. Thanks for the posts and info.
TomB_tx Posted August 30, 2024 Share #63 Posted August 30, 2024 Don is very good, and fast in his work - but can have a significant backlog because he is so popular for Leica work. Earlier this year I asked about repairing the sticky frameline masks on my M7, and he replied this was a very common problem on post-2000 Leica M models, and he could have it done in 4 weeks. So I sent it with a note that there was no rush. After some time I dropped him an email one morning asking when he thought he would get to it, and he replied immediately that he didn't realize it had been there so long, and he'd start on it that day. In a few hours he responded that it was done and ready to return. I'm fully satisfied with his service and results.
