27 Jul 2019: I shot the this photo (portrait) with my M10 and the CV Nokton 50mm/1.1 using an ND Filter to shoot in bright light wide open @f1.1.

Yesterday,on 1 Aug 2020 I accidentally stumbled across the same scene. The rope is well weather-beaten since. Meanwhile I sold the Nokton and replaced it by a Noctilux 50/1.0 v4. I took the second photo almost exactly one year after the other with the Noctilux wide open again at f1.0 using a Vario Heliopan Filter to shoot in bright light.
Spot the difference.  The Nokton performed not too bad on this sunny Saturday afternoon- not as good as the Noctilux but a lot cheaper than the Leica glass.

I am not sure if that’s really the case. Those two scenes are not captured from the same distance.

Correct and as I said, I used two different ND filters. The comparison is not fair. Wet bokeh: I prefer the Noctilux fuzziness.

I assume you cropped the CV image, it would be nice to see both with the same framing. I wonder how did you like the CV in general, I heard is not so sharp wide open like the new 50mm f1.2 a tad slower, but optically stunning. It can easily give a run for its money to lenses 5 grand more expensive (some say).

I had the original Nokton 1.1 and it was an OK lens. I tested the new 1.2 for the LHSA Viewfinder, and found it to be an incredible lens. You can see my write-up with images on LHSA.org. I was so impressed with it I bought my copy, and sold the 1.1.

I had the Noctilux 1.0 many years ago, but sold it to pay some bills. I have no images to compare with the Noctilux, but with the Nokton 1.2 I don’t miss it
