Leica M6 base plate

Does anyone know what this component is called?

Am I able to just buy this component?  Mine is a full round component and I am intending to swap it to this "C" version instead of the "O" that I have now.

If anyone knows where I can purchase this, it will be great.

This component (I don't know it's name) is there to open automatically the IXMOO reloadable film cartridge.

First years of M6 were delivered with this type of baseplate, but I don't know why, later years came with the baseplate type "O".

I had swapped some baseplates between Ms, mainly "after" when I use the Leicavit M or Motor M on one M that accepts them.

You can search for baseplate from M4, MDa (mostly silver chrom), M4-2/M4-P.

Thanks for the feedback on this.  Sorry I am a bit confused.

I will be getting one base plate for M6 in silver.  My M6 is in black.

Can I just swap the “O” flange for the “C” flange so that I keep my original base plate?

If it cannot be swapped, then I will have to find a black paint base plate.

Please let me know if you have any idea on this.  From what you are saying, it is swapping the entire base plate and not just the component right?

The rotating latch on the baseplate may be easy to change, but that alone won't allow the use of an IXMOO cassette. An early M6 baseplate also has a tab welded on next to the latch that releases the locking spring on the IXMOO cassette.

Without this release tab the IXMOO will stay locked closed, and the baseplate latch won't rotate.

I have heard that later M6 also has a difference in the body film chamber so that the IXMOO won't fit properly - but as I only have an early M6 I can't verify if this is correct.

I really appreciate the feedback from all of you who have contributed and given me more in depth understanding and information on the matter.

It is very unfortunate there is more to it than what I know....

With regards to whether the newer M6 can use the IXMOO, I hope someone with some experience will be able to share their thoughts.  Thanks once again guys.
