I noticed that once I started recording, the camera set the shutter speed automatically to 1/50, which isn’t even an option on the top dial. Aperture was set to 1.4 Thank you very much. I will experiment with this settings.

Guest Posted January 31, 2021 Share #27 Posted January 31, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Admittedly, in contrast to photography, I was never actively interested in video or, in the past, narrow-film filming. But in times of lockdown, I attended a few webinars organized by the Leica Store at Nuremberg, where the topic was video a few times, of course as an advertisement for the new Leica SL2-S. But maybe there could also be some tips for my Leica X-U, my only Leica that I can use to record videos and as it's waterproof even in rainy weather. The first result is a one-minute film "Red Lights" taken from my balcony, where promptly a driver ignored the red light on the traffic light. A bit of dramatic music and other ironic mixed in with the traffic noise, an opening and clip closing according to the templates by iMovie and finally everything uploaded to YouTube. But without lockdown due to Corona I would certainly have been hiking and taking photos at Black Forest or on Lake Constance. "Red Lights" Welcome, dear visitor! Hopefully there was an exceptional reason for ignoring the red lights, such as driving a pregnant woman who is already in labor to the nearby hospital. fotomas Posted December 5, 2022 Share #32 Posted December 5, 2022 (edited) Now the movie showed up instead of only the link:) No idea why. Just a sunny day at sea. M 240, 50 mm Cron V. Edited December 5, 2022 by fotomas
bdolzani Posted December 26, 2022 Share #33 Posted December 26, 2022 I decided to use the M240 for a music video, and had only taken a few short clips as a test, which I realize I may have only viewed on the back of the camera. I shot this whole video way back in January and only edited it now to get it out by the end of the year. And I found that it imported very very small. All the video files were .MOV's. Is that the default file type or did I shoot it incorrectly? Kind of a bummer. Perhaps there's a way to expand the size in Premiere? I think the resolution is 4000 x 3000? But it's so small. Any thoughts? I need to decide if it's ok or annoyingly small.
fotomas Posted December 27, 2022 Share #34 Posted December 27, 2022 I never worked with Premiere, so I can't say what might have went wrong here. The format here is also .mov, but it is not normal that it comes out so small. The size is Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel. The first videos I posted I just edited with iMovie. Now I use DaVinci Resolve. I keep the size that came out of the camera. By the way: I like your music.
bdolzani Posted December 27, 2022 Share #35 Posted December 27, 2022 Hi @fotomas thanks for the reply and I really appreciate the compliment. I made the video private this morning because I did find a solution in an Adobe forum. Easy. Just had to right-click the clips and 'set to match frame size'. Not sure why they imported smaller and I thought I might have recorded at a small size by accident. I made a few other small edits and will post the final video again soon. Much better now. Thanks again!
bdolzani Posted December 31, 2022 Share #36 Posted December 31, 2022 Here's the full size video, very basic, very low light where the M240 doesn't quite shine but I did it for the challenge and to see what it's like to use for video:
