I fully understand now that it’s okay to make derogatory remarks regarding the US bit it incurs the wrath of the UK when someone firs back.

Post #15 is a classic example. This is very prejudicial in nature.

I didn't read that as derogatory; I still can't work out how it could be.

As the author of post 15, I can assure you that it was not intended to be in any way derogatory. It was a humorous response to an earlier post about Brexit and the January deadline. Leaving politics aside, I am a great admirer of both the US and the UK, but I am an even bigger admirer of my own country, which is Ireland and which sits between both countries. It has been independent of the UK for nearly 100 years now.

Hey -- I didn't mean to start a war of words among our fellow English speaking Leicaphiles. My complaint -- or shall I call it "concern" -- related to my experience with Parcelforce Coventry was that no explanation of the month-and-a-half hold in customs was offered nor for that of my shipment's sudden and mysterious return to my front porch.

Since my camera was never delivered to the addressee, just held in limbo, I requested a refund of my near $75.00 postage fee from USPS. My request has been denied.  This is understandable in a way since the USPS was not responsible for the actions of Parcelforce and, in fact, did a splendid from this end.

As I mentioned before, I appreciate the fact that Parcelforce  is without a doubt inundated with cargo right now with the coronavirus emergency exacerbating the workload. No disrespect of the UK was ever intended. I lived and worked there for many years and have great affection for the place and (most) of the people I knew. I also love my homeland. For that matter, half my ancestors were Irish (the other half Welsh) so I am fond of Eire as well.  Nor am I offended by Australians or Canadians. In fact, I love everyone on the planet ("Kum bye ya") -- except one dude in Belgium.

Not sure what you mean, but, yes, we are independent and proud of it. I was joking in post 15 above in response to an earlier (no pun intended) post by James Earley whose ancestors came from where I live. Like 'craigr' I love all peoples and races. When I worked in the Middle East I had people from 6 different continents on my team and we all got on very well together.

I think there is no problem with that. After all, you have accounts in the UK, they are part of the SWIFT system, money has been received there and will continue to be received, and it does not matter with whom you are trading. I recently ran into a problem while transporting cargo to the UK. There were slightly changed requirements for customs invoices, and I didn't know about it. I was informed by my driver who was detained at the border. Then I quickly generated a new invoice with cmr pdf according to the new requirements.
