This is an old-ish (5 months) review, but IMHO it is worth reading if you are on the fence with regard to purchasing the M10 Monochrom.

This camera costs a lot of money, but make no mistake:  There is no other camera even remotely like it being made anywhere in the world.

I’d love to read his next review about the Phase One 150 MP monochromatic system with a 53.4x40 BSI sensor.  Probably would wet his pants.

I don’t find his pics especially noteworthy.  And really nothing in his text that is different from many other Monochrom reviews, except ‘trust me, I know b&w’.

BH Photo is a surely respectable dealer, who likes to give also reviews of the cameras he sells... nothing bad, but what can you expect from ?  In Italy we say "chiedi all'oste se il suo vino è buono"  (tran. "ask a innkeeper if his wine is good") 😎

As soon as he started about red, green and blue pixels (not -the filters are these colours, the pixels are extrapolations) I stopped reading.

...A lot of people ask that question, and it’s an easy one to answer. For your camera to record color images, each pixel on the sensor is filtered to capture light in the red, green, or blue color channel. ...

He got that right, but the wheels fell off in the following paragraph:

Quote

...Most cameras use a selection of red, green, and blue pixels (generally one red, one blue, and two green) to interpolate the data required to assign a specific color value to each pixel in the final image...

Slipshod writing, which I apparently missed thanks to skimming.

@jaapv, delete thread if you so desire.

...sicuro Sr Bertolotti!  Anche dicono "le bugie hanno le gambe corte"... (tran: Lies have short legs); However, as with you, agreed (d'accordo), it's business, non? Although there are smaller Leica dealers who "do not have short legs";)

Tanti salute tu & tutti di la familia & le amice. Spero sonno a posto in questo tempo! (tran: Best of health to you, family & friends in this time... something I extend to ALL of you here!) (Tut' mir leid dass ich nicht alles auf Deutsch übersetz... y en español ;) )

Wake well, & happy snaps,

Dave
