Musotographer Posted June 23, 2020 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I am still on LR6.9 and though I hate the idea of a subscription, it's time to upgrade. My LR was carefully set up by a friend and me some years ago now, the way I want it - import procedures, file structures etc. Does anyone know if, when I upgrade, LR will preserve it all exactly as I have it now, just with the updated software? I really don't want to go through the whole kerfuffle of doing it all over again (in fact I wouldn't know how on my own.) As it is, I will also have to upgrade my OS from Sierra to Mojave (probably) and redo the Nik plugins. 🙄 Edited June 23, 2020 by Musotographer
Advertisement Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Hi Musotographer, Take a look here Upgrading LR6 to Classic CC - are settings preserved?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Luke_Miller Posted June 23, 2020 Share #2 Posted June 23, 2020 I can't speak to your settings, but mine have always been preserved during my evolution from Lightroom 1 to the current CC version.
Jeff S Posted June 23, 2020 Share #3 Posted June 23, 2020 LR 6.14 was the last supported perpetual version. Jeff

I just checked some old documentation and found that I was on 6.8 when I moved to Classic. I think 6.14 was the last fully supported version (full featured with new camera/lens support), while later versions were not. In any event, the transition to Classic was smooth. Fortunately I have a savvy, computer expert, friend who can always lend support if and when I get into the weeds by doing something stupid. I was confused until a few minutes ago because I assumed - clearly wrongly - that 6.9 was newer than 6.14. I now realise that 6.14 means six fourteen - not six point one four...... 🙄
Jeff S Posted June 23, 2020 Share #8 Posted June 23, 2020 (edited) Adobe doesn't help with the confusion. It's now LR Classic, not LR CC Classic, which was the initially weird terminology, as cloud storage was, and remains, optional with Classic (I'll probably abandon LR if and when cloud storage is mandated). The Classic package is $9.99 per month and includes Photoshop, so still a good deal IMO. But I'm told that it's harder to find on the Adobe site than in the past. If so, that's not a good sign for its continuance in current form, as that's exactly what Adobe did by burying the standalone updates on the site, just prior to burying the standalone option altogether. Edit....I was in fact on the last 6.14 before going to subscription Jeff Edited June 23, 2020 by Jeff S

I just googled "adobe photographer's package": https://www.adobe.com/uk/creativecloud/photography.html
