SonomaBear Posted June 12, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted June 12, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I usually only shoot DNG and sometimes convert to monochrome in post. Â In modern times, all my images flow through LR and I'm quite happy -- but... What if I set the SL to DNG to slot #1 and JPEG to slot #2 and set my JPEG to monochrome and tweek the JPEG settings to mimic a favorite file emulsion? The DNGs could still flow into LR but the JPEGs would be pure OOG (Out Of Camera) just like film days! Â I usually have the JPEG on high resolution monochrome because I like to compose without color. Does anyone have favorite JPEG settings for various emulsions? Â I currently shoot Ilford HP4, HP5 or Delta 100 BUT I long for the days of Panatomic X on a tripod... Advertisement Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Hi SonomaBear, Take a look here Monochrome JPEG Settings on the SL 601. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted June 12, 2020 Share #2  Posted June 12, 2020 (edited) I would still use .dng, converted to a 16 bit RGB TIFF, because it will help provide more latitude than a JPEG when doing the essential work on a monochrome image of dodging and burning, as is/was done all the time by a B&W film or digital photographer. Use the JPEG only as a guide. Edited June 12, 2020 by 250swb
