Advertisement Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 Hi Sye Williams, Take a look here Stolen Leica Q / LA Riots. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
johntobias Posted May 31, 2020 Share #2 Posted May 31, 2020 No it doesn’t.....the serial number would be more useful to dealers/etc......watch eBay!

Second, I'm sorry to say that neither the Q nor the Q2 has built-in GPS so there is no way you can track the camera like that. There may be some way in which you can register the serial number with Leica as stolen but I doubt that will help very much. The only thing I can think of at present is to notify the police (who I suspect have rather a lot on their hands anyway at present) and your insurers—if, indeed, the camera was covered. tom.w.bn Posted May 31, 2020 Share #4 Posted May 31, 2020 Even if the Q had built in GPS, then it's a GPS receiver. No option to track that.

Steve Ash Posted June 1, 2020 Share #6 Posted June 1, 2020 I think you could search for the serial number in images posted on the web. But this would work only if the metadata is not stripped off. The likelihood is very low though I suppose.
lanetomlane Posted June 1, 2020 Share #7 Posted June 1, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) When I had my M's stolen I advised Leica of the Serial Numbers as I understand they check for stolen equipment when it comes in for repair/service. Good luck.
PhotoCruiser Posted June 10, 2020 Share #8 Posted June 10, 2020 I am not sure if the serial number is stored inside the EXIF data. If so there may be fostware who races the web to check for the exif data. You may do a search about that argument? Chris
Ning Ning Posted June 10, 2020 Share #9 Posted June 10, 2020 The serial number of my Q2 can be seen in the file information under Camera Data in Photoshop.

I never checked that, but good to know. Now the question is: Is there a crawler software who crawls the www to check photos for serian numbers? I think/remember there is a system for copyright information who hide information inside the photo and they can send crawlers to find photos with the embedded information. Archiver Posted June 19, 2020 Share #11 Posted June 19, 2020 If you don't recover your camera, this may help you find it, if images from it are uploaded to the internet. https://www.stolencamerafinder.com/

I never heard of that. It’s potentially a real good tool for finding a stolen camera. Good luck.
