Lens cap / Lens hood suggestions for 46mmND on a 50 Lux

Hello All : I just added a variable ND filter ( the heliopanvariograu ND 0.3-1.8 ) to my 50 lux (M). I knew the pull out hood would no longer work - but the snap on lens cap also fails to fit. Anyone have suggestions on 1) a slide on hood and 2) snap over lens cap. I rarely cover my lenses but they are usually protected by a lens hood of some flavor. Now...just a piece of glass leads the way.  Less than ideal as I tend to to use my camera as a hardworking tool exposed to the elements.

A neoprene lens cap or snoot might work. But surely, most of the time you will not using the ND filter.

Hi David - thanks for the neoprene concept. Had not considered that. A snoot...reverse maybe but no way obvious to attache it.  And no...the ND has a limited use profile but want to protect it when on. Be well and will hope others have some suggestions as well.
